have you and your friends ever played an escape room? if not - the premise of an escape room is rather straight-forward: you are locked in a 'room' & you have to figure out puzzles and overcome obstacles on your way to freedom. escape rooms appeal to multiple occasions - a date night? group outing with friends? team-building activity? birthday or family fun!? it's a good time.
even right here in the inland empire (in sunny southern california!) - there are literally dozens of amazing options, with themes varying from the magical to the frightful. all-in-all, you know it's a game. a challenge. a battle of your wits vs. the odds stacked against you! your heart knows that there is no real penalty for 'losing' a game, but that hardly matters - your mind quickly becomes 'all-in' and eagerly races to finish.
but, what if there is no actual 'room?' could your mind be convinced that you were trapped in a room, without actually being behind lock & key?
could you still get captivated enough and would your mind still feel the thrill of attempting an escape!?
well, if you were to ask the thousands of participants who have (successfully or not) made their way through a VR escape room at noobs VR - the answer would be a resounding, "yes!!"
(here is one unsolicited review from 'jennifer c-k' that lays out a common 'non-gamer' reaction :-)
how does this escape room work? well - step 1: you & your group put on virtual reality headsets. after a quick tutorial, your surroundings fade and you are transported to your alternate dimension of choice: pirate's cursed as sea monsters? sure! deputies tasked with disarming bombs on an old western train? why not!? prisoners in a medieval seaside town awaiting death by dragon!?!? i thought you'd never ask.
you see each other as an 'avatar' inside the VR simulation. as you walk around the space, everyone's movement is tracked - so you know where each other are at all times. you see a different world - perhaps a room, perhaps a cell, perhaps a pirate ship? and while those environments aren't real, you very likely may have to remind yourself that you can't lean against the other things you see. yes - you may be shocked at how real the unreal does feel as you are 'trapped' in a completely different reality!
here is a little sneak peak of what an escape room like this looks like from the outsider/third person perspective:
plus, with many escape games to choose from - you also can select a varying level of 'action' elements. for example: you may have to actually defeat that dragon i mentioned earlier... a mix of action-based and more classic puzzles makes it even more immersive (and more memorable!)
so, what are you waiting for!?

go here and do this! someone graciously gifted us a certificate here and i really didn't know what to expect. the description can be a bit confounding. nearly everyone I told that we were doing a free-roam VR escape room asked, "but how do you not run into the walls?" fair question. turns out, when you're in the midst of the experience, you're really not thinking about the real-life walls because you're so enthralled with the game (and we never ran into them, for the record).
while it does take some extra preparation, the open-by-reservation system made it feel very personal and devin was welcoming, patient, and clear on the instructions, and even took photos and videos as we played and shared them with us.
i'm not a gamer. in fact, i'm an anti-gamer at times because i just can't sit still and be entertained for long. this game, however, won me over from the start. it lacked the physical restrictions of a real-world escape room (giving it an exciting anything-can-happen feel) while also including the benefits of physically being somewhere real and making real movements. it's a perfect blend of physical and virtual activity.
i was also concerned that i'd get motion sick. i'm particularly prone, but I felt just fine. if you're worried, i recommend wearing anti-nausea wristbands as a precaution.
definitely give this local business a try because chances are you'll love it.
my husband and i came here for our first date night in like a year and it was AMAZING. it was also our first VR experience ever and devan made it memorable. not only did he explain everything to us in detail so we were comfortable, but also took pictures and videos that we could watch of ourselves doing the challenges. seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. we will 100% be coming back very soon and bringing friends. we did a VR escape room and i can’t even explain how cool it is to do a virtual one. so far, the best date night we have ever had was here at noobs!! also gotta mention that the facility and headsets were very clean and sanitized before we used them and we were offered water as well. awesome experience overall.
we had so much fun doing the pirate VR. if you like escape rooms, the VR takes them to the next level. this would be great for birthday parties. the owner was very nice, the facility was clean and we would recommend it to anyone.
an amazing experience!!! the escape room puzzle was very challenging and had our group working together!! highly recommend!! also very friendly and welcoming vibes!
this place has become an annual tradition where i take my mother in-law to have some fun with VR puzzles/escape rooms. we never fail to have an awsome and amazing time. i highly recommend this adventure for any age, young or old. thanks for the great time noobs!
