do i have to make a reservation?yes we are open by appointment only. you do need to make a reservation - and you can do so up to 3 weeks in advance (more for parties) and as early as 1 hour in advance! please click "book now" and select the experience that you are interested in and you can see all available times. if you'd like to know if we can accomodate you last minute, text us (yes, our phone line is text enabled! oooooo, fancy!) at 909-353-4443. we do book up quickly, but there is a chance we may have a short notice opening! why? we want everyone to have the best time possible! by taking appointments only, we ensure that we give the absolutely best experience to everyone that comes in! we don't try to shove as many people into the same game like other VR places - because we have found that the best way to experience free-roam VR is to bring your friends and family with you so you can experience it together! whether you are booking for 2, 8, or renting our entire facility - your time at noobs is about you!
how old do i need to be to play?all of our experiences utilize equipment that are recommended for ages 13 and up. for private games, we will allow ages 7 and up at parent/guardian's discretion. note: parent/guardian must be present, supervising & helping to coach the child as needed and directed to by the staff. (please note that the equipment used for: "extraction point," "l.a. deadzone" & "mission critical" is bulky and heavy - approximately 12 lbs - and can be difficult for smaller kids to wear and handle.) we're sorry, no VR players under 7 at this time.
where are you located?we are located at: 310 alabama st. #d, redlands, ca 92373 (just south of park ave. & in the same business center as open door escape rooms!)
what should i wear?there are no hard and fast rules here, if you want to wear a sumo suit and high heels, we'll do our best to fit the equipment on you. but we do suggest that you something comfortable! if you are going to be trying our full-immersion game, "extraction point," we suggest that you wear cool clothes (no jacket/sweatshirt) and closed-toe shoes. also, this experience relies on sensors on your ankles and wrists - so long dresses/overly flowing pants may interfere with the tracking. oh, and heads up - makeup is a-ok with us, just know that some types of makeup may come off on the VR headset :-)
can i wear my prescription glasses?yes! now, heads up - a lot of VR centers do not allow this, but all of our equipment at noobs is compatible with most glasses - the most comfortable headsets to use with glasses are the ones we use for extraction point, l.a. deadzone, mission critical, and all of our 1p VR and stationary escape games. the oculus quest 2 headsets that are used for the free-roam escape games and "shmooter" are a little tighter, but they are still compatible!
will i get motion sickness?for our group games - most likely not. you are physically walking around instead of using buttons to 'move' in the game. what you see on screen matches up with how you are moving your head & body, so your brain is more likely to be fooled than with traditional VR. every person is different, so pay attention to how you are feeling & know that you can stop at any time. you may be more prone to motion sickness when using our single player stations. proceed with caution and know that you can switch to another game or stop at any time. we recommend that (if you have the option in the game) to select "teleport" movement/locomotion as this greatly reduces the chance of motion sickness. our 'stationary escape games' utilize "teleport" movement - so it is not typical for players to experience motion sickness during those either.
will i be playing with other people, or just my group?"all of our multi-person experiences are tailored to you and your group. you decide who to bring & who to experience these virtual worlds together with! there may be other games happening at the same time in our facility (in different sections) during your time here.
do i have to sign a waiver?there are some inherent risks associated with this activity and we require all adult participants to sign a waiver before participating. a parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver for any participant under 18. (waivers can be signed and submitted digitally prior to your event) to preview the waiver now, you can visit www.noo.bs/waiver
what about covid? how will noobs stay safe?[update: feb 2021] - california has removed the requirement for masks to be worn by everyone in all indoor public spaces. please continue to keep yourself and those around you safe by washing your hands often and refrain from coming to noobs if you are ill. 1) all of our virtual reality headsets have been fitted with silicone and/or vinyl face-contact surfaces (not bare fabric), which allow us to fully disinfect and sanitize in between users. single-use disposable vr mask covers are also available by request. 2) for your group experiences, you will not have other groups in your same game/gamespace. [note: we do divide our main space into smaller gamespaces, but you will still have your own 'buffered' zone] 3) we use clorox wipes, which has one of the shortest kill time recorded for covid-19 (as well as some other pathogens!) see the EPA's website for more information: https://www.epa.gov/coronavirus/about-list-n-disinfectants-coronavirus-covid-19-0 4) handwashing stations and hand sanitizer will be available at all times. please help keep noobs clean by using them before and after playing, eating, or you know... using the potty! 5) all of the noobs 5 years old and up have been vaccinated against covid-19. (it's not required that we are, but we are a family owned and operated place, so we... just are! :-) 6) if you have any concerns or need special accommodations, please let us know at "email@example.com"
why does noobs distrust capital letters so much?well... we noticed that computer interfaces all over the planet seem to be always wanting to capitalize the first letter of sentences and certain labels and "proper" nouns... this is obviously the first step of robots taking over the world, by making us conform to the diabolical scheme of differentiating upper and lower cases... some companies fight the machine by using all caps, but that just seems too angry. plus, i mean.... our logo just looks better in all lowercase.
where can i find terms, conditions, privacy policies & other legal stuff?"click here to load all terms & notices - www.noo.bs/legal
are the experiences at noobs wheelchair accessible?for our single player experiences & stationary escape games: absolutely! our multiplayer experiences do require physical locomotion to enjoy (you never press a button to move in the virtual world) and wheelchairs may pose a hazard for other players. with that said - we've never tried! if you use a wheelchair and want to try our multi-person experiences, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can see if there is anything we can do make it work!
what if i have a health concern?noobs cannot give personal medical advice, so please discuss our activities with your doctor if you have concerns. in general, participation is NOT advised for people that are pregnant, elderly, under the age of 13, have implanted medical devices or pre-existing medical conditions such as heart conditions, abnormal blood pressure, photosensitivity, epilepsy, and/or any physical or psychological abnormalities and/or disorders.
